FAMILY ADVOCACY
What is Family Advocacy?
Family Advocacy services are an essential part of our work in serving child victims of abuse and their non-offending caregivers. When a child and family come into our Center, they are greeted by our Family Advocate and then shown to our family room. While the child is speaking with our Forensic Interviewer, the Family Advocate will stay in the family room to provide support, information, and referrals to the non-offending caregiver and the rest of the family. This can include information on the advocacy and investigative process, as well as referrals to mental health agencies, medical services, and community programs.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON FAMILY ADVOCACY
Families first encounter our Family Advocate when they come into our Center for services, but their support does not stop there. Following the forensic interview process, our Family Advocate stays in contact with clients throughout the investigative process to provide them with additional support and information. The Family Advocates are here for you throughout the entire process. Family Advocates complete specialized training in victim advocacy required by the National Children’s Alliance standards for accreditation.
